About me

I’m Nicki Cawood, a professional copywriter and content writing trainer based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Since 2006, I’ve helped small business owners, entrepreneurs, managers, and freelancers turn their ideas into clear, effective, and engaging content that connects with their audience and drives results.

Over the past 19 years, I’ve worked with clients across a wide range of industries, from marketing agencies and financial services to eco brands, charities, small retail business, creative professionals and many others. One thing has always been clear:

Experience & Qualifications

With nearly two decades of experience in copywriting, content strategy, and content marketing, I bring practical insight and professional training to every project. I’m a certified copywriter and hold a HubSpot Content Marketing Certification, alongside other training and qualifications in Equality and Diversity, Counselling, and areas that support clear, inclusive, and effective communication.

I’ve completed numerous professional courses over the years to ensure my clients receive the most up-to-date content advice, marketing best practices, and support. Continuing professional development is central to my approach, keeping my skills sharp so I can provide high-quality, results-driven content solutions for every business I work with.

Thirsk Coworking – Supporting Local Freelancers & Small Businesses

In 2017, I founded Thirsk Coworking, a free, friendly coworking community for freelancers, remote workers, and small business owners in Thirsk, Northallerton, and surrounding areas.

Thirsk Coworking was created to help self-employed professionals overcome isolation, boost productivity, and find accountability, all in a relaxed and supportive environment. With the support of local venues like Thirsk Lodge Barns, the sessions provide a space to work alongside like-minded people, share ideas, and grow your business.

This project reflects my broader mission as a content consultant and copywriter: fostering connection, collaboration, and support within the business community, while helping local professionals communicate more effectively.

Beyond Work

When I’m not helping clients or hosting coworking sessions, I’m at home in Thirsk with my husband, our two (very tall) teenage boys, and a rescue cat who thinks he’s in charge.

I’m a lifelong Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, co-run Thirsk Gamers, and love all things storytelling, especially the worlds of David Gemmell and Anne McCaffrey.
