Nicki Cawood Journal Therapist:

An Evidence-led Approach to Wellbeing

When it comes to our mental headspace, the tools we use should be as sturdy as they are gentle. My approach to journal therapy is not just built on a love for stationery. It is anchored in professional standards and a commitment to evidence-led wellness.

As a member of the Complementary Medical Association (CMA), I adhere to a professional code of ethics that prioritises the safety and success of my clients. The CMA is the leading professional body for ethical complementary medicine in the world. My accreditation there means that when we talk about reclaiming headspace, we are doing so through frameworks that are recognised, respected, and effective.

My work is also deeply informed by my membership with Lapidus International, the organisation dedicated to Writing for Wellbeing. This ensures that the prompts and practices I share are not just creative exercises. They are rooted in the therapeutic power of words and their ability to foster personal growth and emotional resilience. This professional foundation is what makes my empathy-led approach unshakeable.

Qualifications and Lived Experience

You might wonder why an accredited practitioner focuses so deeply on the overstretched. The answer lies in my journey as a SEND parent.

Navigating the complexities of the SEND system while running a business and maintaining a home is not just busy. It is a profound weight. I quickly realised that traditional productivity hacks do not work when your nervous system is consistently on high alert. I needed something deeper than a to-do list. I needed a way to process the noise without drowning in it.

It was through this lens that my MCMA accredited practice was born. I did not just study these frameworks. I lived them. I used them to find clarity in the chaos of EHCPs and to stand firm in the middle of everyday responsibilities. Writing for wellbeing became my anchor, and now I use that experience to help others find theirs.

Why I Choose This Work

My mission is to take the noise of modern life and translate it into Practical Quiet. Whether you are looking for a natural cadence in your business or you are a parent trying to find five minutes of focus, my work is designed to give you the permission you have been waiting for.

By combining the rigour of CMA standards and Lapidus principles with the empathy of lived experience, I provide a space where you can stop waiting for things to quieten down. You can start building a resilience that lasts.
